“Don’t Vote, You’ll Lose Your Security Too!”

The Islamic Republic system launched election campaigns one day before the elections with the slogan: “Don’t vote, you’ll lose your security too!”

Saturday, the 11th of Esfand, is the day for holding elections for the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Experts. Over the past month, the Islamic Republic system and its agents, following the people’s boycott of the elections, have made every effort to bring people and even minorities to the ballot boxes.

System officials, particularly clergy, have over the past two months visited Armenian leaders in churches in various cities and encouraged them to participate in the elections under the pretext of having minority representative seats in parliament. Additionally, Afghans residing in Iran were also permitted to participate in and vote in the elections.

Now, with less than a day remaining before the elections, campaign trucks bearing slogans such as “If your vote didn’t matter, they wouldn’t tell you not to vote,” “Won’t your economic situation improve if you vote?” and “Believe me, this way you’ll lose your security too” have been launched by the system. However, it is unclear whether these slogans are meant to encourage people to participate in the elections or to threaten them, warning that if they do not participate in the elections, they will lose their security.

Thus far, the Islamic Republic system has spared no effort in preserving itself against the Iranian people and suppressing them. Over the past year, the world has witnessed major crimes by the system and its agents against the Iranian people, including killing of children, murder, rape, suppression, torture, execution, and more. For this reason, people who seek the regime’s overthrow have boycotted the elections and stood firm in their decision. Over the past month, through the release of various statements by political activists, civil society activists, artists, ordinary people, and others, they have demonstrated their opposition to the Islamic Republic and shown that the people’s boycott of the elections continues and they will not participate in it.
