Execution of 9 Inmates Carried Out at Qarchak Prison in Karaj

The execution of 9 inmates at Qarchak Prison in Karaj was carried out this morning.
On Wednesday, November 8 (17th of Aban), the execution of 9 inmates at Qarchak Prison in Karaj, who were transferred to solitary confinement the previous day, was carried out early this morning.
Three of the mentioned inmates had been sentenced to execution on charges related to narcotics, with the identities of two of them confirmed as “Bahman Fathollah Zadeh” and “Rasoul Taimouri.” Five other inmates were sentenced to execution on murder charges, and one inmate was sentenced to execution on charges of enmity against God (Moharebeh) by judicial authorities.
It should be noted that the execution of the aforementioned inmates has not yet been officially announced by prison authorities and relevant institutions.
According to annual reports from the Statistical Center of the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), during the past year from October 10, 2022 to October 8, 2023, approximately 659 citizens, including 17 women and one minor, were executed. This represents a 24 percent increase compared to previous years. Among the executed, seven were executed in public.
According to published reports, executions of those convicted on charges related to narcotics have taken place while the Islamic Republic regime itself is one of the importers of narcotic substances. Furthermore, the execution of juvenile offenders is not mentioned in any law, and juvenile offenders should not only be transferred to prisons but should be sent to reform and rehabilitation centers to serve their sentences.
