Execution of Death Sentence for Two Baloch Prisoners in Kahnuj Prison

Early this morning, Thursday, June 1, 2023 (11 Khordad), the death sentence of two Baloch prisoners was carried out in Kahnuj Prison.

“Ashkan Sohrabi,” son of Khosro, 24 years old and married, and “Aria Parvaizi,” son of Jomeh, 23 years old, residents of “Zehkaloat” in the “Jazmourian” region, were arrested in late 2019 on charges related to drug trafficking in the vicinity of the “Bahadurabad” bridge in Kahnuj, and death sentences were issued against them.

According to “Halash” report, early this morning, Thursday, corresponding to 11 Khordad, the death sentence of these two Baloch prisoners was carried out. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which itself is the largest drug mafia in the Middle East, has issued death sentences for individuals accused of drug-related offenses and has executed many on these charges to date.

It should be noted that following the outbreak of nationwide protests and the popular uprising, the number of citizens sentenced to death and the execution of these sentences has increased. From August 20 of last year until now (11 Khordad 1402), at least 147 Baloch citizens have been executed in various prisons. Furthermore, from April 29 of the current year until June 1, 44 Baloch prisoners, two of whom were women, have been executed in 13 prisons across the country.

These successive executions by the Islamic Republic system have raised concerns and reactions from human rights activists and organizations, such that warnings have been issued by these organizations, human rights lawyers, and judicial advocates to the system.
