Execution of Inmate Carried Out at Urmia Prison

Hrana News Agency – This morning, Thursday, the fourth of Khordad, an inmate who had previously been sentenced to death on murder charges was executed at Urmia Prison.

According to Hrana News Agency, the news organ of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network, an inmate was executed at Urmia Prison this morning, Thursday, the fourth of Khordad 1402.

His identity has been confirmed by Hrana as “Ali Peiri, 40 years old.”

This inmate, who had been imprisoned for three years at Urmia Prison, was previously arrested on murder charges and was sentenced to death by judicial authorities.

Hrana had reported yesterday about the transfer of the mentioned inmate to solitary confinement for the execution of the death sentence.

According to the annual report by the Statistics Center, Publications, and Records of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network in 2022, a total of 457 reports were recorded, which include death sentences issued against 92 individuals, including 6 people in public executions, and execution of 565 people. Of this number, 2 death sentences were carried out in public. Additionally, 5 individuals who were under 18 years old at the time of the alleged crime commission and are legally referred to as child offenders were among those executed this year.
