From Metropol to Shah Cheragh
The Metropol building in Abadan collapsed again. According to reports from Eghtesad News yesterday, as additional sections of the structure remaining from the Metropol tower in Abadan gave way, rescue personnel and emergency services arrived at the scene. So far, no information has been released about the number of injured or possible casualties.
The twin Metropol tower in Abadan first collapsed in June of this year, when a large number of citizens lost their lives and many merchants lost their livelihoods in the incident.
Brigadier General Asadollah Hajizamani stated: The Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters immediately arrived at the scene following the Metropol Abadan incident and took charge of the engineering work, and responsibility for demolishing the remainder of the Metropol building has also been assigned to this headquarters.
He added: Given that the Metropol building had a special structure and lacked proper engineering standards, its demolition must be carried out using special engineering methods to prevent damage to neighboring buildings.
However, this tragic incident was not limited to Abadan; rather, just hours after the collapse of the Metropol building in Abadan, a deadly shooting occurred at Shah Cheragh in Shiraz. According to some public sources, at least 15 people were killed in this shooting. This was while the state media network reported in subtitles that the number of injured reached 40 people.
People who participated in these 40 days of protests stated that this bloody scenario by the Islamic Republic’s security agencies is designed to create psychological warfare to suppress the people; however, we will not stop our protests until the fall of this regime.
Masoud Kazemi, a political activist, also tweeted that the Islamic Republic was responsible for this terrorist act and wrote that the existence of the Islamic Republic is in danger and the regime’s fabricated and false actions have increased.
Fariborz Karmi Zand, a former police officer and opponent of the Islamic Republic, also tweeted that this terrorist act is related to the Islamic Republic’s trick to create new news centers and psychological warfare operations.
