Gholamali Baski, Known as ‘Father of Iran’s Nature,’ Passes Away

«Gholamali Baski», an environmental activist known as the «Father of Iran’s Nature», passed away at the age of 88.

According to IRNA’s report, Mr. Baski had been hospitalized and later bedridden under supervision at home for the past six years due to a stroke. However, since November 7 of last year, he had been transferred to the intensive care unit of Baski Hospital in Gonbad Kavous due to respiratory complications.

Mr. Baski passed away on Wednesday morning, August 23, at the age of 88 following a period of illness.

Gholamali Baski graduated from the Department of Gynecological Surgery at Tehran University in 1966 and founded a hospital in Gonbad Kavous that same year. However, in 1970, he abandoned city life and dedicated himself to environmental protection.

Among his achievements during his lifetime were establishing the Global Baski Foundation under the name “School of Respect for Life”, founding a gifted school, and establishing the Mathematics House in Golestan Province.
