Hundreds of Iranian Civil Activists Call for End to Hunger Strike of Five Political Prisoners

More than 650 civil and political activists on Monday, February 8, issued a letter to five political prisoners, urging them to end their hunger strike, which entered its twenty-seventh day today.

These five political prisoners are Shekila Manfored, Sina Beheshtian, Saeid Tamjidi, Mohammad Abol-Hasani, and Hamid Haj Jafarkashani, whose physical condition has been reported as critical.

In the letter from these activists, it stated: “After the brutal killing of Baktash Abtin, you were the imprisoned advocates for justice who raised your voices in protest… Your voice was heard and moved the conscience of aware minds.”

The signatories of this letter added: “Now that a wave of support and solidarity with you has begun both inside prison, in society, and outside the country, we humbly, while expressing gratitude and praise for your steadfastness, request that you end your hunger strike.”

In the aforementioned letter, addressing these political prisoners, it was stated: “Your health and precious lives are the priority of every action and struggle. We stand in respect for you.”

Civil activists have asked the people to demonstrate their support for the political prisoners and their demands by signing this letter.
