If the Plan Was to Formalize Going Unveiled, Why Did Masha Amini’s Case Happen?

People and news agencies reacted to photos published on social media from the February 11 rallies by saying “If the plan was to formalize going unveiled, why did Masha Amini’s case happen?”

The rallies organized by certain government actors on February 11 and the publication of various photos sparked reactions from the public and some news media outlets.

The Islamic Republic newspaper in its editorial on Monday, February 13, also referenced the propaganda use of unveiled women’s presence at the February 11 ceremony, writing: “If going unveiled was supposed to become so formal that at the most important revolutionary ceremony in the country, the presence of unveiled women would become a propaganda subject for the country’s official bodies, and officials proudly publish these images to demonstrate the extent of approval and supporters, then why did you allow Masha Amini’s case to happen?”

Masha Amini’s death occurred due to improper veiling (according to officials) and not due to going completely unveiled. This is while photos published from the February 11 rallies, which were organized by government actors, depicted unveiled women alongside fully veiled women. A new circus launched by the Islamic Republic regime to supposedly declare that the Islamic Republic government has no problem with going unveiled. A circus that had been launched in the past few months, after which it became clear that the unveiled individuals were government agents.

Many people in various cities and regions also announced by recording and publishing videos on social media: These rallies that are broadcast through state media were completely false and the streets were very empty with no ordinary people participating in these rallies. These films being broadcast through state media are from previous years.

The question people have for the Islamic Republic government is: How much is power worth to you that you do anything to have and keep it? Do you plunder, suppress, arrest, and massacre? Do you lie to preserve the throne? Not only for the Iranian people but for the entire world, your hand has been exposed and you have no choice but to leave. No longer will any of the Iranian people or the world believe your shows.
