Intentional Fire at Addiction Treatment Center in Mashhad Kills and Injures 27 People

The prosecutor overseeing detention, treatment, and harm reduction centers at the General Prosecution and Islamic Revolution Prosecutor’s Office in Mashhad stated that the fire at one of the addiction treatment centers on the outskirts of Mashhad was intentional, saying that as a result of this incident, 3 people present at the location died and 24 others were injured. According to him, three suspects have been arrested so far in connection with this matter.

According to Hrana news agency, citing IRNA, the prosecutor overseeing detention, treatment, and harm reduction centers at the General Prosecution and Islamic Revolution Prosecutor’s Office in Mashhad reported the death and injury of 27 people present during the fire in the courtyard of an addiction treatment center located in Dastgerd village near Miami, Mashhad.

He pointed out: Three people present at the fire scene died as a result of their injuries, and the incident left 24 others wounded, who were transferred to hospitals for treatment after initial emergency response on site.

The prosecutor overseeing detention, treatment, and harm reduction centers at the General Prosecution and Islamic Revolution Prosecutor’s Office in Mashhad, stating that investigations are ongoing and additional information will be announced subsequently, stated in this regard: According to investigations conducted, this fire was intentional and three suspects have been arrested so far.

He added: Firefighters, simultaneously with fire suppression operations, provided emergency assistance to 200 people present at the location and evacuated this population outside the danger zone.
