Iran Announces Purchase of Three Million Chinese Vaccines with ‘Unclear Safety’

Alireza Raeisi, spokesman for the National Coronavirus Combating Headquarters, announced the purchase of three million Chinese coronavirus vaccines, stating that according to the vaccine sellers’ conditions, the company has no liability regarding vaccine side effects and vaccine delivery timelines.

According to this Health Ministry official, Iran has so far received one million doses of Chinese vaccine donated by China’s Red Crescent, and three million more doses of Chinese vaccine will enter the country next week.

Alireza Raeisi has emphasized that the safety of the Chinese vaccine is unclear and it may only provide immunity for eight months to one year.

So far, 100 million people in Chile, Brazil, and Turkey have received at least one dose of Chinese vaccine.

Based on statistics released so far, the number of people vaccinated against the coronavirus pandemic in Iran is less than one percent of the country’s population.
