Iran Freestyle Wrestling Wins World Cup Championship

Iran’s freestyle wrestling team won the championship for the seventh time in the World Cup wrestling competition held in Los Angeles, United States.

Iran’s team faced Russia in the final match of the 44th edition of the World Cup in this sport, with the match ending in a 5-3 victory for Iran.

Iran’s freestyle wrestling team secured five victories in this match through Hasan Rahimi, Masoud Esmaeilpour, Mostafa Hosseinkhaneh, Hasan Yazdani, and Kamil Ghasemi, while Alireza Karimi, Meysam Nasiri, and Amir Mohammadi were Iran’s defeated wrestlers.

With this victory, Iran has now become seven-time champion and eleven-time runner-up in this competition.

This was Iran’s third consecutive victory in this sport at the world competitions on American soil.

Iran’s national team at the Los Angeles World Cup this year reached the final of the competition by defeating the teams of Azerbaijan, India, and the United States.

After Iran, Russia, Georgia, and the United States secured the subsequent places respectively.

Iran’s national Greco-Roman wrestling team also recently became the five-time champion of the 2016 Greco-Roman World Cup by defeating Russia 8-0. The competition was held in Shiraz.
