Iran’s Nuclear Negotiating Team Member Calls for Russian Clarification on Its Demands from US

Mohammad Marandi, an advisor to Iran’s nuclear negotiating team in talks on reviving the JCPOA in Vienna, announced on Sunday, March 6, in response to Russia’s recent request for assurances from the United States, by posting a tweet: “Iran is waiting for Moscow to clarify what it is demanding from the United States”.
Mr. Marandi also added that “the United States has not responded to a number of Iran’s demands that are key to the full implementation of the nuclear agreement”.
Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, announced on Saturday that his country has requested assurances from the United States that sanctions over Ukraine will not negatively affect Moscow’s trade relations with Tehran under the agreement known as the JCPOA.
Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, announced on Sunday in an interview with the news network “CBS” that sanctions imposed against Russia and efforts to revive the JCPOA are “completely different” topics and have no connection to each other.
