Islamic Republic Air Force Claims: Only Warning Shots Fired | Two Killed and Four Wounded

Following the Saturday clash in Mahmoudabad, Mazandaran that left two dead and four injured, military officials of the Islamic Republic are denying any direct fire on civilians, claiming that people were killed as a result of “warning fire” and that their deaths were “accidental”.

The Islamic Republic Air Force claimed in a statement that land owners incited the people.

According to a final court ruling, part of the land of an army air base on the outskirts of Bisha Kola village in Sarkhrud district of Mahmoudabad city was supposed to be returned in favor of local residents. The Saturday clash on the 19th of Mordad in Mahmoudabad, Mazandaran occurred when, according to IRNA, officials from the army air base opened fire on civilians and officials who intended to execute the final ruling of Mazandaran’s judiciary.

Although the army claimed it only fired warning shots, officials of the Islamic Republic say several air base officials have been arrested.
