Israel’s blind attacks not only claimed the lives of Gaza civilians, but also compounded the suffering of defenseless people by blocking humanitarian aid.

Medical sources in Gaza confirmed that yesterday evening, Tuesday, September 16, a truck carrying displaced persons who were attempting to leave the city was targeted by Israeli airstrikes. The attack left at least five dead and several wounded. The injured were transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital.

The Israeli attack comes as thousands of people continue to flee Gaza, with released images showing long convoys of vehicles and even hand-drawn carts. As Israeli military operations continue, the humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip deteriorates by the hour, and relief organizations have warned of an impending catastrophe.

Israel’s relentless attacks against civilians in Gaza are reminiscent of the oppressive methods of the Iranian regime; two governments that both use tools of violence and disregard for human dignity to sacrifice defenseless people.

Israel, in addition to direct massacres, deliberately seals the fate of civilians through slow death by blocking the entry of food and medical aid. These policies stand in complete contradiction with the message of the Gospel and human values, leaving a mark of shame on the conscience of the world.

Churches and the international community have warned and declared that they cannot remain silent in the face of these crimes. It is our duty to stand with the vulnerable and demand an immediate cessation of these inhumane measures; because silence means complicity in oppression.
