Maragheh: One Prisoner Executed in Public

Hrana News Agency – Today, Thursday, the fourth of Khordad, the sentence of a prisoner who was previously convicted of “rape” was carried out in public in Maragheh.

According to Hrana News Agency, the news organ of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network, today Thursday, the fourth of Khordad 1402, one prisoner was executed in public in Maragheh.

This prisoner was previously sentenced to death by the judicial authority on charges of “rape.”

Fars News Agency reported the nickname of this prisoner, who was arrested in 1395, as “Amirmehdi.”

The death sentence of this individual was carried out today in one of the public squares of the city after confirmation by the Supreme Court.

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center, Publications and Works of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network in 2022, 457 reports were registered, including convictions of 92 people to death, including convictions of 6 people in public executions and the execution of 565 people. Of this number, 2 death sentences were carried out in public. Furthermore, 5 individuals who were under 18 years of age at the time of the alleged crime, legally referred to as “juvenile offenders,” were also among those executed this year.
