“Matahareh Gouneh-yee,” Former Political Secretary of Tehran University Islamic Association Detained

“Matahareh Gouneh-yee,” former political secretary of the Islamic Association of Tehran University, was detained following a summons by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Matahareh Gouneh-yee, a dentistry student and former political secretary of the Islamic Association of Students at Tehran University and Tehran University of Medical Sciences, was previously detained by security forces in Tehran in connection with nationwide protests in 2022.

She and her husband “Mahdi Hadizadeh,” a student at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, were sentenced by the Central Committee of the Ministry of Health to a temporary ban from studies and transfer to Ardabil University of Medical Sciences.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Ordibehesht 12 (April 1, 2024), following a telephone summons by the Intelligence Organization of the Guard Corps, she was detained by the organization’s forces in Tehran after reporting to the prosecutor’s office and was subsequently transferred to Evin Prison.

To date, no information is available regarding the charges against her and the reason for her detention.
