Michael Pregent: Unlike the Iranian People, Islamic Republic-Backed Groups in Iraq, Yemen and Syria Benefited from Nuclear Deal

Michael Pregent, analyst at the Hudson Institute, says that instead of the Iranian people, Islamic Republic-backed groups in Iraq, Yemen and Syria have benefited from Iran’s nuclear agreement.

Mr. Pregent said on Wednesday, September 5, in a virtual meeting on the topic of “the importance of returning sanctions against Iran” that the Iranian regime spent the money obtained after the nuclear agreement on destabilizing Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

The Hudson Institute analyst also said that people in Iran are opposed to the Islamic Republic regime, and Iraqi ethnic groups are also opposed to the Iranian regime’s interference in Iraqi affairs.

Joseph Detrani, a former U.S. diplomat, also said in this virtual session that the Iranian regime, instead of supporting the people of this country, supports proxy groups in the region and they are not thinking about the Iranian people.

Mark Ginsberg, former U.S. ambassador to Morocco, also said in this meeting: “We need a new alliance between the United States and Europe to meet the needs of the Iranian people.”

This virtual meeting was hosted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran on Wednesday.
