One Year After Expulsion of Iran’s Ambassador: Albania Expels Two Diplomats of Islamic Republic’s Embassy

The Albanian government issued an expulsion order for two diplomats of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday, December 25, from this Eastern European NATO member state.

According to Reuters, the names of these two diplomats were identified in a statement by Albania’s Foreign Ministry as “Mohammad Ali Arzpima Nemati” and “Ahmad Hosseini Allast.” Albania stated the reason for this action was “conducting non-diplomatic activities by misusing diplomatic status” by these diplomats – a term commonly used in reference to #espionage activities.

This action by Tirana comes more than a year after the expulsion of Iran’s ambassador from the country. Albania hosts members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization.
