Protest Gatherings by Shift Workers of Karun, Gachsaran, Maron, and Masjed Soleyman Oil and Gas Companies

Shift workers of oil and gas operating companies in Karun, Gachsaran, Maron, and Masjed Soleyman held protest gatherings on Wednesday, April 20 (31st of Farvardin).
According to the report by the Organizational Council of Contract Workers’ Protests, these gatherings were held with the demand to maintain 12-hour work shifts.
These shift workers were protesting against the change of work hours to rotating 8-hour shifts as well as the non-fulfillment of their employment and livelihood demands.
A few days ago, a number of workers from the oil areas of Karun, Agajari, and Gachsaran had also gathered in front of the South Oil-Rich Regions Company building.
Shift workers point out that in 12-hour shifts, they receive higher shift allowances and say: in three-shift work, they had to work 12 days and rest for four days, but in 12-hour shifts, they work for four days and rest for four days.
