Protest Rally of Eighth Coin Losers Turns Violent

Investors who lost money in the Eighth Coin scheme held another protest rally as reports indicate clashes between police officers and the protesters.
On Sunday, April 14, a group of Eighth Coin investors gathered in front of Iran’s General Prosecutor’s Office in Tehran to protest, but according to videos obtained by Voice of America, security and police forces clashed with the protesters.

One witness to the clashes told Voice of America that police forces blocked the street and beat the protesting investors, and subsequently forced several protesters into a van and took them away.
Security confrontations with investors of financial institutions in Iran are not unprecedented. Previously, Eighth Coin investors held rallies in March during which police clashed with the protesters.
