Saeed Madani Arrested on Charges of “Anti-Security Activities”

Saeed Madani, a sociologist and social researcher, has been arrested on charges of “suspicious foreign contacts” and “anti-security activities.”
Mehr News Agency announced on Monday, 26 Ordibehesht, without citing a source, that “Saeed Madani Qahfarkhi has been detained and imprisoned on charges of meeting with suspicious foreign elements and transferring their messages and operational directives to certain elements with records inside the country.”
This well-known researcher was interrogated by the Sepah Intelligence Organization at the airport in December 2021 while leaving Iran to take advantage of a research opportunity at Yale University in the United States, and was banned from leaving the country.
Between 1994 and 2011, Saeed Madani was repeatedly arrested and convicted on political charges.
This sociologist has conducted various research and writings in the field of social harms including prostitution, addiction, execution, violence against women and children, as well as social movements and democratization.
