“Samir Geagea”: Hezbollah in Lebanon Must Lay Down Its Weapons as Soon as Possible

“Samir Geagea,” leader of Lebanon’s largest Christian party, said: Hezbollah in Lebanon must lay down its weapons as soon as possible.
Samir Geagea, the largest leader of Lebanon’s Christian party who is known as a figure opposed to Hezbollah, said last Thursday during an interview at the headquarters of the Lebanese Forces party in “Maarab” located north of Beirut: “The Hezbollah militia group must lay down its weapons as soon as possible and keep Lebanon away from further dangers of war and bloodshed. The cost of destroying Hezbollah’s infrastructure and ammunition depots is the destruction of a large part of Lebanon.”
He also said in part of his interview: “If the challenges and costs resulting from the war between Israel and Hezbollah are so great, the Lebanese should use it to return their country to normal conditions.” He announced that the disarmament of all militia groups in the country except the Lebanese army is the shortest and least expensive way to end the war.
He also emphasized that even if Hezbollah regains its strength, Israel has a military and economic advantage over this group supported by the Iranian government. He also considered the outbreak of a possible war unlikely and expressed that his party is firmly opposed to such a war.
