Security Forces Shooting at Faces and Genitalia of Women During Protests

In ongoing protests that continue unabated, security forces are targeting the faces and genitalia of protesters, particularly women protesters, with live ammunition to suppress dissent.
In recent months, reports have been published about eyes of women, men, and children being damaged as a result of gunfire during nationwide protests, with some of these individuals suffering serious injuries such as the loss of vision in one or both eyes.
However, new reports published on social media platforms reveal even more serious injuries, particularly for women. Reports in which people claim that the Islamic Republic government is trying to prevent women from protesting by destroying their beauty. Security forces ruthlessly cause serious physical, psychological, and irreparable damage to women by shooting their faces and genitals.
According to a report by The Guardian, which obtained information through interviews with doctors and nurses across Iran, it was revealed that suppressive forces often shoot buckshot at the faces, breasts, and genitals of women. Photos provided by doctors to The Guardian show serious and severe injuries throughout the bodies of protesters who were shot at close range.
Doctors and nurses who treat the wounded secretly to avoid arrest have also stated that when injured protesters visited them, they noticed that women often come with different types of wounds compared to men.
One physician in Isfahan Province reported treating a woman around 20 years old who had two bullets lodged in her genital area and 10 additional bullets embedded in her inner thigh. This patient told the doctor that during the protests, approximately 10 officers surrounded her and opened fire at her genital area and thigh.
What do these inhumane actions by the Islamic Republic government’s forces reveal, and what are they trying to prove with their actions? As the Iranian people say, are they revealing their depravity through these actions, or are they pawns of senior Islamic Republic officials who dance to their tune however they wish?
