Farhad Meisami, a physician and civil activist, was arrested at his workplace last August and was charged with “propaganda against the state” and “assembly and conspiracy against national security.”
Sedighe Pishnamaz, Mr. Meisami’s mother, said in an interview with Radio Farda that the reason for her son’s arrest was possessing a number of badges on which was written “I protest against mandatory hijab.”
