Suspicious Death of Sara Tabrizzi, Former Political Prisoner

Sara Tabrizzi, a former political prisoner, died under suspicious circumstances after being summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence.

Twenty-year-old Sara Tabrizzi was arrested on November 16, 2023, while traveling to England, along with another citizen, by security personnel at Imam Khomeini International Airport and was transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention center known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

After her arrest, Sara Tabrizzi spent 3 days in solitary confinement and subsequently suffered elevated heart rate and high blood pressure due to stress in solitary. She was initially transferred to the medical clinic of Ward 209 in Evin and then to a three-person cell in the detention facility of this security agency. After 10 days of interrogation, she was released from Evin Prison upon posting bail of one billion tomans.

She was summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence on April 24, 2024. She, who in the final weeks of her life had been under heavy psychological pressure by security personnel, went to the Ministry of Intelligence on April 24, and then on April 25, her lifeless body was found at her father’s residence in Tehran.

Her body was buried on Monday, April 26, in Eskaman township in Tehran Province, and today, Thursday, April 29, her funeral ceremony was held at Sahib al-Zaman Mosque in Eskaman township.
