Thirteen Iranian Opposition Groups Say They Will Organize Cooperation With Each Other

Thirteen political organizations and groups released a joint statement addressed to the Iranian people on Wednesday.

The statement reads: “Over the past 42 years, you have been in continuous struggle against the anti-human Islamic government in pursuit of a dignified life. What the Islamic Republic has imposed upon you during these difficult years of poverty, oppression, and repression has not been able to extinguish the desire in your hearts for freedom, a worthy life, and human dignity.”

Another section of the statement states: “Now, at a time when you have resolved to free our country from this anti-Iranian and anti-human regime, we—the groups and political organizations opposed to the Islamic Republic and believers in democracy and secularism, territorial integrity of Iran, and the universal declaration of human rights—while supporting your brave and peaceful protests, declare ourselves aligned and united in our loyalty to the great ideals of the Iranian people.”

At the conclusion of this statement, these political organizations and groups announced their commitment to elevating their cooperation to “a level of organized coordination” in order to pave the way for “national solidarity with the goal of saving Iran.”

Iran Constitutional Party, Farsh-e Gard Network, Women for Freedom and Sustainable Equality, Secular Democratic Party of Iranians, Secular Democracy Movement of Iran, and a group of signatories to the 14-person statement are among the signatories of this statement.
