Trump’s Concern Over Possibility of 100,000 Deaths in America from Coronavirus

Trump’s previous strategy was to downplay the scope of the coronavirus crisis impact. Now he is talking about the possibility of 100,000 deaths. Some of his advisors have even mentioned the possibility of 200,000 deaths. Restrictions in America have been extended.

Donald Trump does not deny the widespread outbreak of coronavirus and the possibility of more than one hundred thousand deaths in America. The number of coronavirus cases in America is now higher than in other countries in the world. Anthony Fauci, Donald Trump’s advisor in combating the coronavirus outbreak, has even mentioned the possibility of 200,000 people dying in America.

Deborah Birx, a physician on the White House coronavirus response task force, believes that if all U.S. government measures to combat coronavirus are implemented as planned, there is a possibility of 80,000 to 160,000 Americans dying from COVID-19 infection.

Deborah Birx said: “We hope that this calculation model is not entirely correct and we are hopeful that we can do better than the current plan against coronavirus.”

Extension of Coronavirus Response Plan

Donald Trump believes that the number of victims from coronavirus infection will reach its peak by Easter. In his speech, he said that if after that the number of victims from this disease decreases, then we can say that we have acted successfully in combating this disease.

The U.S. President has also predicted that America will successfully exit the coronavirus crisis in early June. This Trump prediction differs from his previous prediction. Trump had previously spoken of improvement after Easter.

On the other hand, Donald Trump extended the government policy to combat coronavirus until April 30. This is while the U.S. government had previously set the implementation of this program until April 15.

Within the framework of this program, all American citizens have been asked to work from home as much as possible, avoid unnecessary travel, not participate in gatherings of more than 10 people, and not leave their homes if they show signs of coronavirus infection.

Recommendation and Not Obligation

Adherence to the U.S. government’s program to combat coronavirus is not mandatory for citizens of this country and this program is advisory in nature.

This is while American states have foreseen greater restrictions for citizens. These restrictions can range from closing stores to banning movement.

Trump again expressed his dissatisfaction with such restrictions being implemented in America and said these restrictions could seriously harm the American economy. At the same time, he warned that “there is nothing worse than saying we will win before we actually win.”

Nancy Pelosi’s Sharp Criticism

Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House from the Democratic Party, has held Trump responsible for the dimensions of this crisis. She said that the U.S. President has delayed in implementing the coronavirus response program.

Pelosi, in an interview with American news network “CNN,” called Donald Trump’s delay in combating coronavirus “deadly.”

The situation in New York State has been reported as very dire. According to statements by Andrew Cuomo, the governor of this state, at least 60,000 people have been infected with coronavirus and at least 965 people have died in this state.

A field hospital has been built in New York’s “Central Park” to treat those infected with coronavirus. Hospitals are suffering from a shortage of capacity, ventilators, and specialists.
