US State Department: Islamic Republic has oppressed Iranian people for 41 years; Iranians deserve a glorious future

The US State Department, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, published several messages on Twitter, referring to the years following the Islamic Revolution as “41 years of oppression” and emphasized that it supports the Iranian people in achieving a better future.
In a message posted Tuesday, February 11 on the US State Department’s Twitter account, it stated: “In the 41 years since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, Iran’s regime has only created terror, corruption, repression, hostage-taking, nuclear ambitions, missile launches, and 41 years of oppression for its citizens and neighbors. The Iranian people deserve a future worthy of their glorious past.”

In another message posted on the State Department’s Twitter account, it stated: The Iranian people have suffered 41 years of failure under Islamic Republic rule. They should not have to endure this failure and defeat for even one more year. We stand with the people in support of their hope for a brighter future.
The US State Department previously referred to widespread corruption in the Islamic Republic and strongly criticized the regime’s repression of protesters, particularly following the events of November, 2019.
