At Least Four Killed in Clashes Between Revolutionary Guards Forces and Armed Individuals in West Azerbaijan

Some Iranian news sources reported clashes and gunfire between Revolutionary Guards forces and attackers in West Azerbaijan.

Iran’s state media reported that Revolutionary Guards forces “in pursuit of a terrorist team” engaged with them, resulting in the deaths of two members of the garrison and two of the attackers. The “Hamza” garrison is affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards’ ground forces.

While Iranian Islamic Republic media labeled the attackers as “counter-revolutionaries affiliated with global arrogance,” the identity of the attacking individuals remains unclear.

Previously, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, an opposition group against the Islamic Republic of Iran, reported that Revolutionary Guards forces in the border heights between Piranshahr and Choman attacked Kurdish kolbars and opened fire on them. It is still unclear whether this clash is related to the clashes on Tuesday night in Chaldaran.

According to the report, a group of Kurdish peshmerga in that area, after being informed of Revolutionary Guards gunfire toward kolbars, engaged with these forces, ultimately leading Revolutionary Guards personnel to shell the Kurdistan heights in Iraq at the border of “Choman and Bardeh Soran.”
