Forced Marriage; Child Offender Accused of Murdering Spouse Released from Qarchak Varamin Prison with Blood Money Payment

On Sunday, the 8th of Farvardin, Khaledeh Jalili, a child offender accused of murder, was released from Qarchak Varamin Prison. The release of this child offender was carried out through the payment of blood money and obtaining the consent of the victim’s heirs. Ms. Jalili was sold into marriage by her mother as a child to a man. When she was 17 years old, she was accused of killing her husband during a physical altercation with him. Ms. Jalili was arrested in Mordad 96 and transferred to Qarchak Varamin Prison.

According to a report by Hrana news agency, the news organ of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network, on Sunday, the 8th of Farvardin 1400, Khaledeh Jalili; a victim of forced marriage and a child offender accused of murder, was released from Qarchak Varamin.

The release of this child offender, who has been in prison since 96 on murder charges, was carried out through the payment of blood money and obtaining the consent of the victim’s heirs.

Ms. Jalili was sold into marriage by her mother as a child to a man. On the 12th of Khordad 96, when she was 17 years old, she was accused of killing her husband during a physical altercation with him. After two months, on the 15th of Mordad of the same year, she was arrested and transferred to Qarchak Varamin Prison.

The victim’s father, after some time, appeared at the prosecutor’s office and expressed his conditional consent in exchange for receiving 150 million tomans. Khaledeh Jalili had been accused of “intentional murder of a Muslim, illegal entry and residence” in the country.

Previously, an informed source regarding Ms. Jalili’s condition before the murder and the night of the incident told Hrana: “Khaledeh’s husband, after marriage, put her at the disposal of other men in exchange for money and repeatedly abused her. On the night of the incident, a quarrel broke out between Khaledeh and her husband, and during this altercation, as a result of a knife wound, her husband was injured and died in the hospital several days later. She was ultimately arrested on the charge of murdering her husband and was transferred to prison after some time.”

Khaledeh Jalili, daughter of Abdoljalil, was born on the 7th of Tir 78 in an Afghan immigrant family in Islamshahr. She has been working as a laborer since the age of 12. Ms. Jalili’s mother returned to Afghanistan some time ago after remarrying, and Ms. Jalili has no relatives in Iran.
