Imprisoned Teacher Labor Rights Activist Iskander Lotfi on Hunger Strike

According to reports, Iskander Lotfi, an imprisoned activist for teachers’ labor rights, has begun a dry hunger strike.

According to reports from teachers’ professional associations, the reason for Lotfi’s dry hunger strike is pressure from interrogators to extract forced confessions and the continued unlawful detention of him.

Based on these reports, Iskander Lotfi announced during a phone call with his family on Monday that he had begun his dry hunger strike. After that, his phone call was cut off.

This teacher labor rights activist, who was arrested on the 11th of Ordibehesht, is detained in Sanandaj.

He was arrested along with several other teacher and labor activists on the charge of meeting with two French union activists.

The Coordination Council of Iran’s Cultural Workers’ Professional Associations stated that Iskander Lotfi, the spokesperson for this association, is in danger, and wrote: “His unlawful detention must end immediately.”
