Morad Tahbaz, Environmental Activist, Transferred from Prison to Hotel in Tehran

The British Foreign Office announced that Morad Tahbaz, an imprisoned environmental activist, has been transferred from Evin Prison to a hotel in Tehran.
According to the British Foreign Office, the country continues to negotiate with the Islamic Republic authorities at the highest levels to allow him to return home immediately.
Previously, reports had been published about the possibility of Mr. Tahbaz’s release along with Nazanin Zaghari and Anoosheh Ashoori, but according to The Guardian newspaper, the British government handed over the pursuit of his case to the United States, and he was returned to Evin Prison after 48 hours of leave.
Morad Tahbaz, 66, is one of the imprisoned environmental activists who holds triple citizenship of Britain, Iran, and the United States and has been in prison for more than four years.
Based on a court ruling issued in November 2019, he has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of “cooperating with America.”
