Pentagon Announces Death of Qasem Soleimani; DNA Testing Underway

A senior Pentagon official confirmed to Newsweek that Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces, have been killed, and the results of DNA testing will “most likely” confirm that these two individuals were targeted.

According to Newsweek, Soleimani, al-Muhandis, and Reza al-Jabri, a protocol officer for the Popular Mobilization Forces, were killed in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad International Airport.
