Reza Pahlavi: Hamid Nouri’s Verdict Was First Step of Justice

Continuing reactions to the “historic” court ruling in Sweden, Prince Reza Pahlavi welcomed the life sentence handed down to Hamid Nouri, describing the verdict as a “real victory” for freedom advocates.

He wrote in a Twitter message on Thursday: “The Swedish court’s verdict on Hamid Nouri is a great and real victory for all Iranian freedom advocates and human rights activists.”

Reza Pahlavi added: “Justice for the Iranian people will ultimately prevail and… the Swedish court took the important first step.”

 

He also thanked the judges, the court’s jury members, and all activists who played a role in this “victory.”

On Thursday, July 23rd, the judge and jury of the Stockholm District Court, after nine months of review, confirmed the life sentence for Hamid Nouri, who is accused of participating in the mass execution of political prisoners in the summer of 1988.

Hamid Nouri, known as “Hamid Abbasi,” a former deputy prosecutor at Gohardasht Prison, was tried in Sweden for nine months on two main charges of “international war crimes” and “premeditated murder.”
