Two Days After Karun Fire Begins, Firefighting Equipment Transferred to Khuzestan

Two days after a fire broke out in Karun National Park in Khuzestan province, provincial crisis management officials say they are in the process of transferring necessary equipment and resources to Khuzestan to combat the fire.

On Sunday evening, the Karun forests caught fire, and a large number of bird nests, such as sparrows and pigeons, as well as other animal species were damaged in this fire.

Adel Moal, Deputy Director of Natural Environment at the Khuzestan Environmental Protection Organization, said that so far five people have been referred to court in connection with fires in the Karun and Dez national parks.

The Karun protected area covers approximately 14,000 hectares, of which 7,500 hectares is national park.
